There are two common types of sulphur (cas no 7704 34 9) in general, which are lump and powder. Powdered sulphur is actually made from lumps of sulphur, which are then steam-heated and then melted, decontaminated and crushed. Sulphur is an important industrial raw material, which helps the birth of sulphur dyes, lights up matches, and is a key player in the production of sulphuric acid, pesticides and chemical fibres. In the rubber industry, sulphur is used as a vulcanising agent to give rubber its elasticity and durability, and in the textile industry it is used as a bleaching agent for animal and plant fibres. In addition, sulphur is a natural enemy of agricultural pests and an important ingredient in the formulation of highly effective insecticides.
Sulphur (7704 34 9 cas/cas 7704 34 9)is insoluble in water, soluble in carbon disulphide and alcohol, not hygroscopic, but afraid of moisture, easy to burn, burning to produce blue fire traps, there is a reprehensible and special odour, irritating the nose, eyes and lungs, causing coughing, and may also be fatal in serious cases. However, it is the best insulator of heat and electricity, and it is the raw material for riveting of railway cement sleepers and insulated electrical appliances.
Sulphur belongs to the second level of flammable solids, the vapour of sulphur mixed with air or oxidant may cause an explosion if it reaches a certain proportion, so the place where sulphur is kept should be strictly prohibited from smoke and fire. Warehouses should be kept ventilated frequently to emit sulphur vapour. It should not be stored with charcoal, black ash, acids and oxidising agents such as potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate.
Sulphur preservation is the best special library storage, the library should be cool, dry, temperature control below 30 degrees Celsius, relative humidity to not more than 80% is appropriate. Attention should be paid to moisture, so as not to dampen the powder particles increase, caking, and affect the quality of sulfur. If it is already damp, the damp sulphur must be dried and then stored in the warehouse.
