Prospects for the development of insoluble sulphur

Oct 17, 2024Leave a message

Insoluble Sulfur, molecular formula: Su, is a non-toxic, combustible yellow powder, named after its insolubility in carbon disulfide. It is produced by thermal polymerisation of ordinary sulphur, the number of sulphur atoms on the molecular chain is as high as 108 or more, it has the viscoelasticity and molecular weight distribution of polymer, so it is also called elastic sulphur or polymerised sulphur, it belongs to inorganic macromolecular chemical raw materials.

Looking at the international market, the production of insoluble sulfur (7704 34 9) is mainly concentrated in a few countries, such as the United States, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, India and Eastern Europe, and its demand for radial tyre production is as high as 160,000 tonnes per year. Markets have long to be dominated by Flexsys Chemical, and prices have remained high at US$1,600 to US$1,800 per tonne, which is about ten times higher than the price of the same product domestically. In view of this, tyre manufacturers and traders around the world are eagerly waiting for more countries to join the competition in order to break the existing monopoly.

The insoluble sulphur has been successfully exported to France, Germany, Southeast Asia, the United States, Japan and other countries and regions, with an annual export volume of several hundred tonnes. If further breakthroughs can be achieved in large-scale production and product quality (especially the "three highs" standard), the competitiveness of Chinese products in the international market will be greatly enhanced, and it is expected to occupy a place in the global insoluble sulphur market. In addition, as the demand for insoluble sulphur (7704 34 9 cas) in other related fields grows year by year, its market prospect is even broader and full of unlimited possibilities.

This means that there is still a significant potential for further development of insoluble sulphur.
