Insoluble sulphur uses play an important and dispensable role in chemical industry. Nowadays, there are mainly four insoluble sulphur manufacturing processes at home and abroad, namely, melting method, gasification method, oxidation-reduction method, and radiation method, among which the former two methods are more commonly adopted. According to the different quenching and cooling media in the synthesis process, they can be distinguished as dry and wet methods. Today we will first introduce the insoluble sulphur made by gasification + dry method.

Firstly, the raw material sulphur is melted, and then fed into the furnace equipped with tube heater, the sulphur is evaporated in the furnace, and the sulphur steam gasification temperature in the furnace is controlled to be 500~700℃. Relying on its superheated steam pressure, direct high-speed spray into the carbon disulfide containing a stabiliser cooling medium, to get a plastic or powdered mixture of soluble and insoluble sulphur, which contains more than 60% insoluble in carbon disulfide amorphous sulphur, to be cured with carbon disulfide solvent extraction of soluble sulphur, carbon disulfide through filtration or centrifugal separation to remove the remaining particles of that is the porosity of the The remaining particles are porous IS, which are IS products after drying. The advantages of gasification method are high conversion rate of sulphur, high content of IS, good quality, especially high thermal stability and good dispersion. Disadvantages are high toxicity of carbon disulfide, flammable and explosive, the process is more complex, harsh conditions, equipment corrosive, large investment, high product cost.

The above is the process of IS made by gasification method + dry method, at present there are many insoluble sulphur manufacturers in the world have adopted this method to make IS. hope the above introduction let you have a preliminary understanding of the process of making insoluble sulphur.
