Sulfur powder is a powdered substance made from sulfur processing. What are the methods used to produce sulfur dyes using it? The manufacturer provides us with a brief introduction:
The baking method of sulfur powder involves baking the amine, phenolic, or nitro compounds of aromatic hydrocarbons with sulfur or sodium polysulfide at high temperatures to produce yellow, orange, and brown sulfur dyes. Boiling method involves heating and boiling the amine, phenolic or nitro compounds of the material aromatic hydrocarbons with sodium polysulfide in water or organic solvents to produce black, blue, and green sulfide dyes.
Similar to direct dyes, salt can be used to promote dyeing. Cationic fixing agents and metal salt fixing agents are used to improve color fastness.
Sulfur powder is similar to vat dyes, and the dye needs to be restored to a colorless substance with a reducing agent before it can be applied to the fibers and oxidized. Just don't use strong reducing agent sodium sulfide, but weak reducing agent sodium sulfide. But after reduction, the direct effect of the chromophore on the fibers is lower than that of reducing dyes, and the tendency of dye aggregation is greater.
By reacting with acid, sulfur powder can generate hydrogen sulfide gas, and by reacting with aluminum acetate, it can produce black aluminum sulfide deposits.
Sulfur sheets can be used at higher temperatures to increase the diffusion rate of dyes and improve the degree of penetration.
